Presto Camping Spaghetti

IMG_1476edThis picture was taken on our recent camping trip (see video below). It has three ingredients: ground buffalo, healthy brand of spaghetti sauce in a jar, and cooked rice noodles. Mix it all up, and, presto! It’s dinner.




Refreshing Healthy “Sparkle” Dessert

I have come to redefine the word “dessert.” It doesn’t have to be a gooey, over-sugary, bad-for-you experience. I love whole milk vanilla yogurt, with fresh blueberries, and sprinkled with granola.  Yum!



A Recipe for Natural Bug Repellent

So, you may wonder, what does bug repellent  have to do with “sparkle”? Good question 🙂 The answer is that whenever we spare our immune system from unnecessary stress from chemicals, we give it a little more room to sparkle with health! So here is a simple recipe for bug repellent spray. As a disclaimer, we live in dry Colorado, so it’s not as difficult to keep up with the pesky bugs, but give it a try no matter where you live. And I’d love to hear if it worked for you.

SONY DSCUse a base of about 2-3 ounces of witch hazel
Add one small capful of tea tree oil
Add 5-10 drops of both peppermint and spearmint oil

Mix well, and place in small spray bottle. It actually smells kinda good! I recommend spraying it on clothes and other fabric rather than skin because the tea tree oil and strong mint oils can be irritating.
